There is something special about returning to a haunted house and discovering that the experience has changed since your last visit. Even when you know what to expect from a particular attraction, new surprises can make the experience feel fresh all over again. That was certainly the case with this year’s visit to the House of Creeps!
Located at Wintrust Field, home of the Schaumburg Boomers baseball team, the House of Creeps has continued its tradition of expanding and adding new elements to its haunted house. Each year, the creators seem to come up with new ideas to make the attraction even more elaborate. There were several new rooms this time around, including a particularly gruesome bloody bunk bed room. Another interesting addition was a room featuring strobe lights, grid cages, and walls, creating a disorienting atmosphere that added a different kind of scare to the experience.
One of the things that makes this haunted house so enjoyable is the attention to detail. Each room has its own personality, decorations, and atmosphere, almost as if you are walking through different sets from a horror movie. The actors also contribute tremendously to the experience, appearing unexpectedly and keeping visitors on their toes. One amusing surprise this year was seeing some very young haunt actors, including children as young as five years old! It was quite something to see such young participants getting involved in the Halloween festivities.
As always, the combination of creepy surroundings, sound effects, lighting, and unexpected encounters makes the House of Creeps a memorable Halloween attraction. You never quite know what awaits you around the next corner, and that anticipation is part of the fun. There is a certain excitement in being startled, laughing afterward, and continuing onward to see what else has been prepared.
The House of Creeps is highly recommended, especially for anyone who enjoys haunted attractions and horror movie-style environments. Its continued additions and improvements make returning each year worthwhile. The attraction is also part of the Schaumburg Halloween Carnival, which offers seasonal treats, arts, costume contests, and rides. Together, they make for a fantastic Halloween outing and an excellent way to celebrate the spooky season!
