HAUNT REVIEW 2024: The Catacombs at St. Pascal

Spooky season is still in full swing and Da Count was in the mood for a Haunted Sunday Funday. We found out that our good fiend Butch Patrick (aka Eddie Munster) was going to be a guest at The Catacombs Haunted House at St Pascal, so we flew on over!

We made a stop at the Patio Theater first because Butch was hosting Munster, Go Home! on the big screen. We bought some stickers and had a nice meet and greet, always a fun time! It was pretty neat to see it in the theater because I had only seen it on TV before and it made such a difference!

Then after the movie was over, we hopped into the Gregula Koach and drove on over to St Pascals for our descent into The Catacombs haha! Butch Patrick was also in the lobby signing autographs and taking pictures, so we took a nice photo with him, I was in mortal form but Count Gregula was in his full regalia.

Since we had VIP passes, we were able to get in right away. Being that it was Sunday it wasn’t too crowded anyway, but still it was nice to go in without a wait. It’s not that much more expensive (about $24) but it’s really convenient when you have limited time which we did because Da Count had to go to his mortal night job.

The haunted house was itself never fails to entertain, you go down to the basement to wait in line to have your photo taken then you go into a room that looks like a funeral parlor and sit down where you get the usual don’t touch the actors blah blah blah. But the way they do it is so entertaining you get scared before you get scared! More of a funny scared than a terrifying scared but it was still great. Then you go through twists and turns into various scenes, in the beginning you go through their boiler room which really has that Freddy Krueger vibe.

For a non-profit Community Church haunt, it really had that professional feel. It was creepy and scary and the actors were on point with jump scares. Costumes and makeup were really good too, I cannot believe that some of them were student actors!

If you’re looking for a good old-fashioned haunted house time like in the past, look no further than The Catacombs, which by the way is Chicago’s longest running haunted house since 1979! Highly recommend and can’t wait to go back next year!!!
