Team Gregula had the honor of attending the first-ever Chronic Con, which celebrated director Kevin Smith’s View Askewniverse films like Clerks and Mallrats. It was held from October 11–13, 2024, at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare in Rosemont.
Chronic Con had plenty of celebrity guests to meet including the man himself, Kevin Smith. Also in attendance were many of the stars of the View Askewniverse films like Jason Mewes, Shannon Elizabeth, Brian O’Halloran (who btw was incredibly nice and my favorite guest of the con), and Tommy Chong. We also got to meet Rob Zombie film regular Jeff Daniel Phillips who was there to promote his own film Cursed in Baja.
Kevin Smith had a very interesting panel on Saturday night where he discussed his life, films and everything in between.
My favorite part of a convention is actually the vendor room, where there was tons of merch to please even the fussiest fans. It was a blend of View Askewniverse, comic con and horror.
The con was slightly disorganized, which is fairly normal for a first time show, but we didn’t let it spoil our weekend. We had a ghoul time and hope to see Chronic Con back for 2025!
