This scare season is lurking to be vast, vicked and vild for several established haunted happenings including some brand new ominous offerings scheduled to be open for boo business in 2022. A few fang-tastic fears and fall frights are already getting going this macabre month of September. Vonderful news for autumn aficionados!

Be sure to check each individual site for exact times and dates of operation. I have each listing creepily categorized for your perusing pleasure. ‡ HAUNTED ATTRACTIONS ‡

13th Floor Chicago

Returning for a ninth season of scares in Chicagoland, 13th Floor Chicago is forty-thousand square feet of fang-tastic fun at 5050 River Road in Schiller Park. Near the Rosemont entertainment district, the site vill feature two all-new shows: Outcast Carnival and All Hallows Eve. Admission into both shows is included in one ticket purchase. The location vill also feature a carnival-like midvay of games, photo opportunities, food and beverages.

The Old Joliet Haunted Prison

The innovators of national haunted attractions, 13th Floor Entertainment Group, vill once again reanimate the historic old prison outside of Chicago this fiendish fall vith The Old Joliet Haunted Prison. Opening to the public on September 24, 2022. This ominous offering is Chicagoland’s first and only haunted house inside an actual abandoned prison.

Originally built as a vomen’s prison in 1896, The Old Joliet Haunted Prison is located in the annex building at 401 Woodruff Road in Joliet, Illinois. The famed, long-abandoned prison has been referenced in numerous television, film, literature and songs. The prison closed in 2002, but is purportedly haunted vith real spooky specters. This fang-tastic fall, the grounds and interior of the prison vill be transformed into a breathtaking haunted house vith two new attractions, The Abominations and Tormented, for the price of one ticket. Evil Intentions Haunted House

In Elgin’s industrial section stands the abandoned home of Elgin Casket Company. This once proud building has been vitness to murder, grisly discoveries, cult activities, and unexplained occurrences, and a dark legacy has emerged from its sordid history. Evil Intentions Haunted House now takes up residence at this completely unique location and nothing else is like it in the state of Illinois. Be truly terrorized at this multi-level 55,000 square foot paranormal hot spot. The horrific haunt offers a hex-perience you vill never forget and macabre memories that vill give you nightmares for years to come.

Located at 900 Grace Street in Elgin, Illinois. Parking is free in the adjacent lot across the street. Evil Intentions Haunted House opens to the public for shows beginning on September 30, 2022 and runs on select dates through October 31, 2022. General admission tickets are $35 per person. Midnight Terror Haunted House 

Midnight Terror Haunted House opens for its ninth season in 2022. Now in its seventh straight year since 2016 at the current larger location in Oak Lawn. Midnight Terror has been ranked in several top 10 lists and visitor counts have increased. They are known for using old school tactics, vith a balance of newer technology and putting an extreme focus on making Midnight Terror an actor driven, terrifying show!

Disturbia Haunted House

Disturbia Haunted House is coming back for 2022!  Many more SCARES, ANIMATRONICS, NEW ROOMS and more FUN! Vill you dare to enter the ancient haunted varehouse vhere you and your friends vill be spooked by 100 year old spirits vaiting to make all of your nightmares come true?

Count Gregula’s Vampire Prom

New for 2022! Craftily created by The Gregulas. A very unique prom that is specifically made for the adult vampire community and those interested to be vampires for a night. Featuring drink specials, monster trivia, costume contest, 1st, 2nd & 3rd prize vinners, King & Queen crowning, photo booth, horror films and live music.

Wheaton Haunted Halloween Flea Market 

Count Gregula’s Crypt vill be one of the special guests at the Wheaton Haunted Halloween Flea Market this October. The frightful flea market vill be taking place on Saturday October 29, 2022 from 3PM to Midnight.

Bengtson’s Pumpkin Fest

Bengtson Farm is a family owned and operated Pumpkin Festival that has served the Homer Glen area since 1981. The pumpkin festival is located just 40 minutes outside of Chicago. Enjoy attractions like Tractor Town, Barnyard Dance Cow Coaster, Free Selfie Booth, Gemstone Mining Sluice, Pumpkin Chucker, Pig Races, Animals & Petting Zoo, Train Rides (2), a 90′ Mega Fun Slide, Frog Hopper, Pumpkins, Twirling Honey Pots, Happy Swing, Bengtsonville Kids Village, The Milking Cows, Jimmy Cracked Corn Box, Fun Barn, Haunted Barn and Pony Rides. Black Lagoon Pop-Up

Black Lagoon, a pop-up bar debuting in nine US cities this October, invites guests to experience a little horror along vith its cocktails this Halloveen season. The brainchild of two industry veterans: Erin Hayes (Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles and Chicago’s Lost Lake) and Kelsey Ramage (Trash Collective and Toronto’s soon-to-open Supernova). It promises an immersive, creepy-as-hell experience that pays homage to the macabre and throws a splash of goth and metal for good measure.

In Chicago, the location is The Dandy Crown in River West at 694 North Milwaukee. The drinks are brimming vith dark Halloveen hues, and a few cocktails vill be served in custom glassvare. Drinks vith names such as Screaming Banshee, Lilith’s Cup, Closed Casket and Hellraiser. At The Dandy Crown, there vill also be thematic food options such as Sacrificial Lamb (a lamb tartare) Screaming Eyeballs (bites of spicy kimchi chicken meatballs) and more to accompany the Black Lagoon beverages. Black Lagoon vill debut at The Dandy Crown on October 3 and run through October 31.
