Goodbye Wizard World, hello Fan Expo!!!
There’s things-a-changing in comic conventionland. Our old favorite standby Wizard World Chicago that Team Gregula has been covering since 2007 is no more, but never fear…Fan Expo Chicago is here!
Da Count and I were surprised to find out that Fan Expo has a history longer than we thought, actually starting 50 YEARS ago with a small comic fan gathering called Nostalgia ’72. Wow!!!
For some people meeting their favorite celebrities and voice actors (Elijah Wood, Sean Astin and Billy West were in attendance) is the highlight of their con experience. For us it was checking out the cool vendors selling tons of nerdy merch that will satisfy even the most discerning geek.
Local stuff ahoy!
Unlike a lot of comic cons, which tend to focus mostly on superheroes or anime, horror was well represented here at Fan Expo Chicago. The best and scariest wares were on sale and there was even a mini haunted house with live actors to give fans a fright!
Plenty of photo opportunities with cool props were available.
We found some cool cosplayers too!
Even though Fan Expo was a bit different from Wizard World and a tad smaller, Team Gregula had a fang-tastic time!!! Can’t wait to see what happens in 2023!
