HAUNT REVIEW 2025: The Park After Dark at Chase Park

Da Count and I were in the mood for Sunday scares after a full weekend of haunted housing, but needed to be in the city as it was a work night at his mortal job. So we decided to check out The Park After Dark at Chase Park, a haunted house and charity event to raise funds for the Chase Park after-school teen program.

The park is really easy to get to and since it’s in the Chicago city limits itself, you can even take the CTA to get there (when available) if you don’t have a car. For those who are driving, there really isn’t a dedicated parking lot but street parking is fairly easy to find unless it’s a busy Friday or Saturday and even then people are going in and out so it shouldn’t take long to find a spot.

The entrance is really easy to find once you get to the park, we were welcomed by an armless skeleton. I guess they’re hiring disabled skeletons now!? Just kidding, but once you enter the fieldhouse, there were really nice decorations. We saw lots of cardboard cutouts of vampires, bats and jack o’lanterns with fun Halloween lights green, orange and purple everywhere. Then you need to take a flight of stairs to get to the entrance of the haunted house itself. The atmosphere in the upstairs hallway was also spooky, very dark with appropriate lighting. Since we came on a Sunday night there was virtually no line to get in. We did come last year and it does get quite busy so Sunday would probably be your best bet if you hate waiting in line because there is no VIP option. But that’s okay because you know waiting in line is half the fun, especially if you’re young haha.

Going thru The Park After Dark was quite the fright that night! (I’m a poet and i know it!) The passageways were very tight and the lighting was extra dark making it super scary. If you are claustrophobic this will scare the hell out of you! The scenes were quality, my favorite was the clinic with a doctor who was more than happy to do surgery on us.

The actors were very much on point with jump scares and screaming. They were fang-tastic for students who were being taught makeup and stage design by the park. These kids are definitely going to be the pro haunters of the future!

If you’re looking for a pee-in-your-pants good time in an old school environment, look no further than The Park After Dark at Chase Park. We will definitely be back especially since the price Is right – only $13 bucks for a million scares! Lucky number 13! See ya next year!
