Vell, here it is! Our annual Year in Review. This vas a vay better and more satisfying year for Team Gregula. Ve made nearly a full comeback vith reviewing events again since losing our previous ChicagoNow entertainment blog of 10 years back in August 2022. Team Gregula officially added a new author that is also our regular photographer at most major events now. His nuanced name is Deadly Dex and he has been vonderful vith performing double duties of composing several articles along vith snapping the important pics! Deadly Dex took on the job of two other people from my team that are no longer available. Plus, a special shout-out to our assistant photographers Nick Maro and Robert Dicke that have joined us at various hip happenings to take even more important pics! I am very graveful for all the helping claws.
This year I also added some new events to our review roster that ve vere lucky enough to be granted press access. Such notable new events vere The Oddities & Curiosities Expo, All Monsters Attack 2, Chicago TARDIS, and World Oddities Expo. Also new, our fiends at Allied Global Marketing invited us to an early screening of Renfield vith reserved seats for Countess Gregula and me! That is the only vay ve roll.
Then Team Gregula revisited the Wheaton All-Night Flea Market after a 9 year absence to go see and interview my newest famous fiend Joey D’Auria that portrayed Bozo from 1984 to 2001 at WGN-TV. Ve made another ghoulish guest appearance for the second time in a row at the Wheaton Haunted Halloween Flea Market in all our undead gory. Many FANGS to Tim Zurko for the invites back to his pop culture engagements.
Another unique ghastly gig for me vas being selected by Mr. Willy Adkins as his official host of the 2023 Indie Horror Film Festival. Horror films hosted by me? Vow! I had to pinch myself because it vas another nightmare come true for me and I didn’t even have to fall asleep to reap the results! Check that achievement off my boo bucket list!
Team Gregula once again took a road trip and traveled to Wiscon-SIN in order to review such fiendish favorites as the Bristol Renaissance Faire and the Milwaukee State Fair. Many FANGS to the PR people at those events for velcoming us back each year. Ve really love the hospitality. Cheese! Glorious cheese!
Big News in getting my name Gregula out there more! As a result, I rebranded a dormant Facebook Group that I vas already an admin for 14 years. I now have a horror index for people to share all their gruesome gigs, eerie events, and alluring accomplishments vith the rest of the planet. Many FANGS to my team of admins that includes myself, Countess Gregula, and Branka Stephens along vith moderator Deadly Dex. They all keep my ghoulish group going strong.
Ve made Spooky Season visits to some of our favorite haunted attractions such as Evil Intentions Haunted House, Scream Scene Haunted House, and Killdare Haunted City. Ve added a new haunt to our list this year vhen ve vere given a personal invitation to go lurk at the uniquely interactive Terror Roulette. Furthermore, fall is not complete vithout our annual trip to Bengtson’s Pumpkin Farm for some nostalgic memories of gigantic orange gourds.
During November going to cover Days Of The Dead: Chicago is consistently on top of our review roster since 2014. Ve love the dead and they love us! I got to meat Jenna Jameson amongst other celebrated thespians of terror. Yay!
December brought up a special appearance by Santa Gregula vith his vife to go play vith Krampus at 13th Floor Chicago. The ghouls and gals at 13th Floor Entertainment definitely know how to put the scares in the their toy sacks and the evil elves vill make you feel naughty instead of nice. It vas better being naughty…this time.
To enjoy the yuletide, ve vent to see festive lights and ate the annual hummus at Pita Inn to celebrate Cryptmas. Now here ve are at the end of 2023. How sveet it vas!
