I recently vas invited to review the Opening Night performance of DreamWorks How To Train Your Dragon Live Spectacular at United Center in Chicago! According to the press release I vas sent, this show has 23 fire-breathing dragons that swoop and soar directly over the audience. The entire environment immerses children and adults into the magical, mystical world of Vikings and dragons in a never-before-seen arena setting that soars through oceans, valleys and vista mountain tops and spans more than 20,000 square feet of incredible set design.
It takes 30 tractor trailers and more than 150 crew members to move 10,000 cases of gear and lay down a massive magnetic floor, along with hundreds of thousands of feet of cable to have the show ready for opening night. This incredible family entertainment experience leaves audiences spellbound by the high-flying, fire-breathing dragons – 23 of them, some with wingspans up to 46 feet – hero Viking warriors, world-class acrobats, pyrotechnics and lasers.

Vell, vhat you just read is all TRUE! This show is Spook-tacular! I took along my photographer Marco Tito since sadly Countess had to vork her day job. However, I did bring back Countess a cute little dragon souvenir. Anyvay, after I vent to retrieve my tickets, Marco & I vent to take our seats on the main floor of the United Center at about 50 feet from the stage. I'll tell you right now that this enormously theatrical production delivers more than enough action and artistry that it can possibly pack into the approximate 2 and a 1/2 hour show that includes a 20 minute intermission!
A few times during the show, flames shoot up from the stage and I felt the heat on my face! The dragons themselves are so realistic in movement and look that after avhile you feel that you have been transported to this fantasy vorld. The creatures smoke, breath fire and even shot some kind of lightening lazers. Just AMAZING! All the actors are incredibly talented dancers, singers and acrobats flying through the air on top of the dragons and all over the stadium! This is a show you MUST see in person in order to believe it! A few dragons even fart! LOL!
