Psychosis
This haunt which once resided in an old Walgreens in Palatine, IL has now upgraded to a big warehouse further west in Elgin. According to the people in charge, they said it was twice the size of the old location.
You start out in a mock-chapel made up to look like a funeral service complete with a real coffin where you get the "don't touch the actors, they won't touch you" speech, then after a scary surprise you go through a door to begin your adventure. There are a lot of dark hallways, a bit more than I would have liked but it seemed to create an air of suspense which made going into the next room creepier. There were a lot of cool scenes, including Dracula's castle and several mazes where you had to figure how to get out of the room.
Actor-to-patron interaction was very high and excellent. The creatures get in your face and are happy to converse with you...before they scare the crap out of you! Which is always fun, joking around with the actors is always one of my favorite things to do in the haunted house.
There was a negative thing to report, but it will probably not be a big deal to most of you but just a warning: There is a part in one of the mazes that require you to get down on hands and knees to crawl through a small tunnel. I understand that is part of the "claustrophobia" effect and a lot of the kids will think it's fun and enjoy it, but for someone who is not, lets say, agile enough to crawl down on the floor it is miserable and practically impossible. There was also no option to skip that part so if you are unable to navigate that particular area you are out of luck.
All in all it was a fun haunted house, and you get lots of scares for the money!
