Chicago Green Festival 2012

Review by: Count & Countess Gregula

Count Gregula and I recently attended the Green Festival on it's Chicago stop at Navy Pier. When I say Green Festival, I am not talking about a trip to the Emerald City, but instead a world of organic treats, environmental-friendly merchandise and good clean fun.

Upon entering the Festival Hall, we immediately ran into the folks from CLIF bar and sampled some of their new product, a crunchy granola type bar designed to compete with the likes of Nature Valley and Quaker and we both must say it was incredibly tasty. They also had samples of their original product, got to try the chocolate chip coconut which was new to us and also delicious!

There were plenty of free samples for the hungry, including Naked Juice, several different chocolate companies and the assortment of indie farmers markets and stores.

After we were done sampling all those great products, we needed to use the facilities and lo and behold, we found this one vendor selling enviromentally-friendly portable toilets called Nature's Head. (no we did NOT sample the product!)

During the day at various stages there were guest speakers including a gentleman from San Francisco who was more than happy to discuss how his city has become more "green" over the years and suggestions for us all to help out our own environment.

Last but not least, we had a chance to stop by our favorite car sharing service, Zipcar's booth where we had the opportunity to spin the wheel to get a prize because we are members. Didn't win big money :P but was the proud winner of a stylish Zipcar t-shirt!
