Crispin Glover at the Music Box :

Crispin Hellion Glover is a notable film actor, screenwriter, director, recording artist, author and publisher. Glover is best known for portraying eccentric characters on screen such as George McFly in Back to the Future, the "Thin Man" in the Charlie's Angels movies, Willard Stiles in the Willard remake and The Knave of Hearts in Alice in Wonderland to name just a few. However, these days Glover goes around the country vith his traveling tours called "Crispin Hellion Glover's Big Slide Show I&II" and his feature films What is it? & It Is Fine! EVERYTHING IS FINE. On Monday, January 9, 2012, Glover vas at the famed Music Box Theatre in Chicago for a special press screening of his film It Is Fine! EVERYTHING IS FINE. and then right after the advanced performance Glover granted exclusive Q&A time to everyone in attendance that day by doing one-on-one interviews and a group round table discussion.

Greg & Linda vere lucky enough to be invited to this unique press event after an initial e-mail back and forth vith Crispin Glover himself! Yes, he does answer his own e-mails! Greg & Linda made it a few minutes late to the Music Box due to transportation issues, but once they took their seats in the massive main theatre they could see Mr. Glover on stage doing a very strong narration of one of his books vith the pages being projected on the large screen! It vas quite a unique performance and very dramatic to say the least! After he narrated about 3 to 4 of his books on the stage he told everyone in the audience that his movie It Is Fine! EVERYTHING IS FINE. vas ready to start.

Greg read a little about ths movie ahead of time, but nothing could fully prepare Greg or Linda for vhat vas to be seen in front of their faces! The story revolves around Steven C. Stewart vho plays a man vith severe cerebral palsy and a fetish for girls vith long hair. Stewart really does have the disease and gives a very strong performance like no other even though most times you can't understand a single vord he says on screen, but through the interactions vith the other characters you get the idea. The story eventually gets very sexually graphic and veirdly violent to the point that Greg vas disturbed and felt a bit unsettled by the visual images! However, this is definitely a movie you have to see to believe and even then you don't believe vhat you just seen!

After the screening, Mr. Glover did individual interviews vith a few members of the press and then avhile later came the round table interview for everyone else. Mr. Glover sat in the lobby of the Music Box vith the rest of the press including Greg & Linda for a very in-depth Q&A session about his movies and books. Each question asked vas given a thorough and elaborate answer by Mr. Glover. Greg managed to audiotape the entire interview that lasted over an hour! That round table audio interview vill be posted online on my site in the very near future. Promo pics vere then taken vith Mr. Glover and after that Greg recieved autographed copies of his books to review.

As a special treat to Count Gregula fans, Mr. Glover offered a signed copy of his book
RAT CATCHING as a prize giveavay to one lucky person!

NOTE: The contest is now over. No more entries vill be accepted.
Fangs so much to everyone that participated!

Con-Drac-ulations to vinner Thomas Berdinski!!!

It is Fine! EVERYTHING IS FINE (January 13):

It Is Fine! EVERYTHING IS FINE goes into uncharted cinematic territory with screenwriter Steven C. Stewart starring in this semi-autobiographical, psycho-sexual, tale about a man with severe cerebral palsy and a fetish for girls with long hair. Part horror film, part exploitation picture and part documentary of a man who cannot express his sexuality in the way he desires, (due to his physical condition), this fantastical and often humorous tale is told completely from Stewart‚s actual point of view ˆ that of someone who has lived for years watching people do things he will never be able to do. Here, Stewart‚s character is something of a lady killer, seducing a troubled, recently divorced mother (Margit Carstensen), her teenage daughter and any number of other ladies he encounters along the way. According to Crispin Glover, Stewart “wanted to show that handicapped people are human, sexual and can be horrible. He also states that It is Fine! EVERYTHING IS FINE will probably be the best film he has anything to do with in his entire career. Crispin Glover and his co-director David Brothers wanted to bring Stewart’s story to the screen.

What is it? (January 14):

Known for creating many memorable, incredibly quirky characters onscreen as an actor, Glover’s first effort as a director will not disappoint fans of his offbeat sensibilities and eccentric taste. Featuring a cast largely comprised of actors with Down’s Syndrome, the film is not about Down’s Syndrome. Glover describes it as “Being the adventures of a young man whose principal interests are snails, salt, a pipe and how to get home as tormented by an hubristic racist inner psyche.” In addition to writing and directing WHAT IS IT?, Glover also appears in the film as an actor in the role of “Dueling Demi-God Auteur and The young man’s inner psyche.” Actress Fairuza Balk voices one of the snails.
